Kick off to Summer :)

Every year the Laurel Festival starts off our summer. It celebrates the beautiful flowers that bloom in our area and we celebrate it with a carnival and parade. So to start off the weekend, I attended the Fun Run race to cheer on my nephew Josh in his first race. The 'Fun Run' race is 2 miles long. Josh (8 years old) trained for the past two weeks with his older brother Joel who makes running look easy.


Joel usually does the annual 10K but chose to pass that up to run along side his little brother. It was pretty emotional. Josh ran the race in 17 minutes, 12 seconds. He came in 4th but to me he was a winner. Two of the boys that came in before him were 12 and 14 so to me, there was no question that this boy can move.



What is a parade without Uncle Sam? Jordan and I attended the parade later in the day and it was a beautiful day for it. We had a great time and some one on one time.

This band, the Hitmen, is a highlight of the parade, everyone enjoys them and they never disappoint :)

Today is father's day and we were honored to have my nephew spend his first father's day with us. He brought his beautiful baby girl and my beautiful great niece down and we had dinner and hung out. It was a great day and I am blessed with a wonderful family.

Laila and her daddy. I love seeing them together. He beams and she adores him. They make a great match :)

Then of course there is Miss Sadie, my pretty little girl.

So now summer has began and next week we are going camping for the first time this summer. I am soooo excited and will definitely share the experience when we return.

I picked you a flower - or two

Brad Sanford 5K

Today Christa and I walked the Brad Sanford 5k in Elmira Heights for the second year. This year we managed to do it in 57.18 minutes which beat our time of 1:00.53 last year. I think we did great. I have been smoke free for over a year now and never did much exercising before this past year and Christa has lost over 170 pounds in the past 2 years so we are new at this. We are going to start training so that next we can RUN the 5K. I'm pretty excited and hope we can do it. Stay tuned for when I post our first 5K run of the season.
